South Street Seaport
The historical South Street Seaport is a renovated landmark area located on the East River at Fulton and South Streets in lower Manhattan, New York City. The area features cobblestone streets and some of the oldest architecture in Manhattan including many restored early 19th-century commercial buildings.
South Street Seaport is comprised of many shops, restaurants, and attractions. Features include retail and commercial sites such as the former Fulton Fish Market and the Pier 17 shopping mall.
The historic district also contains the South Street Seaport Museum. The museum has paintings, ship models, temporary exhibitions and the 377 ft., four masted ship 'Peking' built in 1911 and moored at the Seaport at Pier 16.
The South Street Seaport is tourist friendly and offers amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River. From here you can board the Circle Line ferry and the water taxi to Brooklyn.
